Grok just landed in Google Workspace for free
xAI just launched a free Grok add-on for Google Workspace, embedding its AI directly alongside your files in Sheets, Slides, and Docs. It can write formulas by citing specific cells, turn outlines into complete presentations using web research, and draft structured docs using context from Drive or Gmail. Why it matters: all generated outputs are normal, fully editable changes rather than rigid exports.

Tired of copying and pasting table rows and paragraphs back and forth into an AI chat tab? xAI is cutting out the middleman by moving its AI directly into the files you already live in.
xAI just launched a free Grok add-on for Google Workspace. A single install from the Google Workspace Marketplace drops Grok right into the sidebar of Google Sheets, Slides, and Docs. It is also available for Microsoft 365 across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working right inside your files
In Sheets, Grok reads the active spreadsheet and answers prompts by citing specific cells. It writes formulas, generates charts, and reruns scenario models when assumptions shift. Crucially, every change behaves as a standard edit that you can inspect and hit undo on.
In Slides, it converts rough outlines into working slide decks by pulling research from the web and X, adding relevant diagrams along the way. Instead of dumping a static image or a messy export, it sticks to your current theme with fully editable text boxes.
In Docs, Grok organizes fragmented notes into polished drafts with real headers and consistent tone. Once you enable connectors, it can also tap into your recent Gmail threads and Google Drive files for context.
Why it matters
For anyone grinding through daily spreadsheets or presentations, this is an instant quality-of-life upgrade. It costs nothing right now, lives where your work happens, and generates native, reversible edits instead of rigid exports you have to reformat.
We think this is an aggressive play by xAI. Workspace and Microsoft 365 are home turf for Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. By sneaking Grok into both suites as a free marketplace add-on, armed with real-time X research, xAI is attempting to hijack the frontline of enterprise productivity right under its rivals' noses.
