Waiting on a render bar is easily the most frustrating part of AI video creation. Runway just launched Gen-4 Turbo to tackle that bottleneck directly.

10-second clips in 30 seconds

According to Runway, Gen-4 Turbo is the fastest way to run its most powerful video model to date.

The new version can generate a 10-second video in just 30 seconds. Runway is pitching it squarely at rapid iteration and creative exploration, allowing creators to test prompts and iterate concepts in near real time.

There is no waitlist or phased beta this time around. The model is currently rolling out across all subscription plans.

Why it matters

For creators and editors, cutting generation down to 30 seconds fundamentally alters the workflow. It turns video generation from a "queue it and grab coffee" chore into an interactive session where you can tweak prompts on the fly.

While the rest of the industry is obsessed with pushing output length and resolution benchmarks, Runway prioritised iteration speed on its flagship model. We think that is a very smart trade-off, because in real-world production, the ability to fail fast matters more than waiting on a single lucky render.

The main question mark is visual fidelity. If the Turbo optimization causes motion jitter or compromises detail, pro users might still default back to the slower base model.
