Moving drafts and notes into an AI chat has always involved an annoying routine of copy-pasting or exporting files.

Anthropic just announced that Claude now directly supports Google Docs content across both regular chats and Projects.

Paste a link and go

Getting started is straightforward: users can either paste a Google Docs link directly into Claude or pick from a list of recently opened documents.

Instead of manually exporting text or downloading files just to give the model context, you can now pull live documents directly into your conversation or add them to a project workspace.

Why it matters

Claude has one of the strongest long-context capabilities around, but practical friction often kills productivity. Letting users pull directly from Google Docs turns Claude from an isolated chatbot into an integrated workspace assistant.

For knowledge workers and teams that live inside Google Docs, this removes the constant copy-paste dance. We think this move shows Anthropic focusing on daily workflow plumbing: having frontier intelligence matters, but making it effortless to access your actual working files is what keeps you inside the tool.
