ChatGPT now connects to your Google Drive, Gmail, and Teams

Published Reach 41

OpenAI just updated ChatGPT's deep research mode to pull real-time context directly from internal workspace tools while respecting existing user permissions. The new connectors link with Outlook, Teams, Google Drive, Gmail, and Linear. It is rolling out to Team, Enterprise, and Edu accounts, as well as Plus and Pro users outside the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK.

OpenAI just announced that ChatGPT can now connect to more internal data sources and pull in real-time context within deep research.

Connecting your everyday workspace

The update adds connectors for commonly used workplace apps, including Outlook, Teams, Google Drive, Gmail, and Linear.

OpenAI stated that the integration maintains existing user-level permissions, preventing unauthorized data access within organizations.

Access is rolling out to Team, Enterprise, and Edu accounts. Plus and Pro subscribers can also use the feature, though OpenAI is excluding users in the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK.

Why it matters

Deep research is finally moving beyond scraping the public web and stepping directly into messy everyday work tools.

We think this is a critical move to turn ChatGPT from a generic research engine into an assistant that actually understands your internal business context. Keeping existing user permissions intact is smart and addresses key security concerns for IT teams. However, the European exclusion makes it clear that pulling internal corporate data across systems still faces major regulatory friction.
