Zoom enters conversational AI with new virtual agent
Zoom just launched Zoom Virtual Agent, an enterprise chatbot designed to handle customer and employee support across web and mobile. It crawls internal FAQs and knowledge bases without requiring heavy coding, integrating directly with existing CRM platforms. Why it matters: Enterprise video is saturated, and Zoom is moving deeper into automated customer workflows to cut service costs.

Zoom is no longer just the app you use to pretend your camera is broken. The company is now diving headfirst into enterprise customer service with the launch of Zoom Virtual Agent.
The new conversational AI chatbot is designed to handle queries from both external customers and internal employees across web and mobile platforms.
Low-code support that audits your docs
Under the hood, Zoom Virtual Agent uses proprietary machine learning to parse what users are actually asking. Instead of forcing companies to build conversational trees from scratch, it ingests existing enterprise knowledge bases and FAQs to formulate answers.
It also comes with a built-in feedback loop. The analytics dashboard automatically flags gaps where internal documentation fell short, essentially telling administrators what documentation they forgot to write.
The tool promises seamless integration with existing CRM and contact center software with minimal coding required, though Zoom openly admits it works best alongside its own Zoom Contact Center.
According to Mahesh Ram, Head of Digital Customer Experience at Zoom, organizations can realistically expect to resolve 50 percent or more of self-service interactions within just weeks of deployment. Forrester analyst Max Ball also noted that advancements in conversational intelligence are finally making automated service genuinely cost-effective rather than frustrating.
Why it matters
We think this is a necessary survival play for Zoom as it races to become a full-fledged enterprise platform rather than a commoditized video utility.
For businesses, the pitch is hard to ignore. Customer support is historically expensive, and a no-code setup that plugs directly into existing help desks means fast time-to-value without hiring machine learning engineers.
Zoom is smartly leveraging its footprint in enterprise communication to challenge legacy CRM and contact center incumbents. By offering an integrated stack from call centers to AI chatbots, they make it harder for IT departments to rip them out.
The catch? A bot that learns purely from your FAQs is only as smart as your worst internal documentation. If a company's knowledge base is outdated or fragmented, the bot will simply deliver flawed resolutions faster. Real-world deflection rates will depend heavily on how clean a company's data is before flipping the switch.
