xAI lets you summon Grok right in X replies
xAI just confirmed that users can now ask Grok anything simply by replying to an X post with "grok". Powered by the rollout of Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini, the update turns any reply thread into a live AI chat without leaving the timeline.
You no longer need to copy and paste a tweet into another tab just to get context.
The official @grok account confirmed that users on X can now ask Grok anything simply by replying to a post with "grok."
The capability is part of xAI's recent rollout of Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini, designed to bake conversational AI straight into the platform's public feed.
Summoning Grok in the replies
Users do not have to navigate to a dedicated assistant tab anymore. If a post looks questionable or needs explaining, dropping grok in the replies pulls the model right into the thread.
The interaction is powered by the newly deployed Grok-2 and its lighter sibling, Grok-2 mini.
It essentially turns Grok into an in-line bot ready to chime into any conversation across X.
Why it matters
We think putting AI directly into reply sections is a very clever play to drive daily usage. Zero friction beats forcing users to leave their timeline to open a separate app.
Still, public-facing bots in comment threads carry clear risks. Hallucinations or controversial answers are instantly visible to everyone, and there is always a danger of users weaponizing the bot to spam threads.
It shows that the front line of AI competition is no longer just prompt boxes—it is becoming an active participant in public feeds.
