Udio adds consistent vocal control with new Voices feature
Udio just rolled out Voices, a new tool giving creators tighter control over song vocals. You can now pick from a curated library of pre-loaded vocal styles or extract and save the voice from a generated track to reuse across future songs. It is free for everyone for two weeks before moving behind the paywall.

One of the most frustrating parts of generating AI music has always been the vocal lottery: you stumble upon an incredible singer on one track, but the moment you generate the next, that voice vanishes forever.
Udio is finally tackling that issue. The platform just launched Voices, giving creators tighter, consistent control over the vocals in their songs.
Giving your AI singer a permanent gig
Users can now assign specific voices to their songs, choosing either from Udio's pre-loaded vocal library or extracting custom voices from their own creations.
The feature lives under the Voice Control tab on the Create page. Creating your own singer is straightforward: generate a new track, tap Voice from the dropdown menu in your Library, and select Use Voice. If you like the result, tap Save Voice on any of the generated songs, and that vocal profile will be stored in your Voice Control tab for any future track.
The feature is available to everyone on a two-week free trial, after which it will become exclusive to paying subscribers across all tiers.
Why it matters
Identity is the missing piece in generative audio. If you cannot keep the same voice across multiple songs, building cohesive albums, storytelling projects, or virtual artists is essentially impossible.
We think this is a smart move by Udio. It shifts the platform from a one-off novelty track generator into a repeatable production tool for serious creators. Putting it behind a paywall after a two-week trial is also a clever retention hook—once you spend two weeks crafting and falling in love with a signature lead vocalist, you are much more likely to pay to keep them around.
