Anthropic just gave Claude for Education a major academic upgrade, previewing direct integrations with Canvas, Panopto lecture recordings, and Wiley peer-reviewed textbooks via MCP. Students can query class materials right inside Canvas without leaving their browser tab, and conversations stay private and excluded from training by default.
OpenAI just made ChatGPT Plus, normally $20 a month, free for college students across the US and Canada through May. The push gives students access to Deep Research, large file uploads, and advanced voice features just in time for finals. With Anthropic also launching Claude for Education this week, the battle to become the next generation's default AI is officially on.
Anthropic just rolled out Claude for Education, a specialized package for universities featuring a Socratic "Learning mode" that guides students through reasoning instead of handing them answers. It is launching campus-wide across Northeastern, LSE, and Champlain College.
