Tinder wants you to practice flirting on an OpenAI bot
Tinder just rolled out The Game Game, an OpenAI-powered mini-game where users practice flirting with AI personas using voice. After simulating meet-cute scenarios, the app scores your charm on a three-point flame scale and offers conversational tips. It is currently a limited-time test for iOS users in the U.S.

The online dating scene has gotten so brutal that Tinder now wants you to practice your pickup lines on a chatbot before talking to real humans.
On Tuesday, the company rolled out "The Game Game," an OpenAI-powered in-app game that lets users flirt with AI bots, reenact meet-cute scenarios, and receive live feedback on their dating skills.
Flirting for flame emojis
Tapping the Tinder logo in the top-left corner serves up a deck of cards, each setting up a different AI persona and scenario. Instead of typing, you have to use your voice to respond and see if you can charm the bot into going on a date.
Throughout the conversation, the AI provides real-time coaching, offering tips to steer things back on track if you get rude. Once the chat wraps up, you receive a score on a three-point scale using flame emojis. Tinder says the game is just meant for lighthearted fun, and it is currently only available for a limited time to iOS users in the U.S.
Why it matters
Dating apps are fighting a serious growth slump, with users increasingly burned out by awkward small talk. By bringing in OpenAI to build a voice simulator, Tinder is tapping directly into the booming trend of AI dating companions like Replika's Blush and Rizz.
In our view, while real-time voice feedback is a fun novelty, conversational chemistry does not translate neatly into flame emoji scores. It looks like a clever marketing stunt that lowers approach anxiety, but it feels more like a temporary distraction than a lasting fix for Tinder's engagement struggles.
