Suno now lets you split vocals and instrumentals

Published Reach 39

Suno just launched a new "Stems" feature for Pro and Premier subscribers, allowing users to split AI-generated tracks into separate vocal and instrumental files. Each stem generates as an individual clip that can be downloaded or extended independently. It gives creators far more control over mixing, editing, and repurposing their AI tracks.

Splitting the mix into two

Suno just rolled out a new feature called Stems, giving paying subscribers much more control over their AI-generated music. Pro and Premier users can now take a generated song and automatically separate the vocals from the instrumentals.

To use it, you open your Library or Create page, click the three dots next to a track, and select "Get Stems." The platform then generates two distinct clips—one containing just the backing track and the other with only the vocals. Both can be downloaded separately or extended on Suno individually.

Why it matters

AI music generation has long felt like a black box: you get a flattened audio file, and if you dislike even one small element, you usually have to throw out the entire track and reroll.

Being able to isolate tracks changes the game for creators. Video editors can easily strip out awkward AI vocals to use clean background music, while producers can pull the isolated vocal lines into a DAW for custom processing. It is a clear move from pure novelty toward fitting into actual creative pipelines, even if separating a track into just two stems is only the beginning.
