Spotify launches in-house agency, tests AI voiceover ads
Spotify just launched Creative Lab, its first in-house creative agency, and started testing generative AI-powered voiceover ads. The streaming giant is building a new tool called Quick Audio inside Spotify Ads Manager, allowing brands to auto-generate scripts and voiceovers with AI. Why it matters: With 615 million listeners, Spotify is lowering the barrier for audio advertising so any brand can spin up a campaign fast.

Audio ads might get a whole lot cheaper and faster to make.
Spotify just announced its first in-house creative agency called Creative Lab, designed to help brands craft custom marketing campaigns. Alongside the agency, Spotify is testing a generative AI tool dubbed Quick Audio, which lets advertisers generate ad scripts and voiceovers right inside the Spotify Ads Manager.
Custom campaigns meet automated voiceovers
With 615 million listeners on the platform, Spotify wants to give marketers fewer excuses to look elsewhere. The Creative Lab team will help brands produce video and audio ads, in-app interactive experiences, and call-to-action cards.
Early clients already include Rockstar Energy Drink, which hosted an in-app concert series featuring British rapper Stormzy, as well as aperitif brand Aperol.
Meanwhile, Quick Audio targets the production friction. Spotify executives previously hinted at using AI for host-read podcast ads, and Quick Audio brings that generative audio pitch straight to daily advertisers looking for quick turnaround voiceovers.
Why it matters
For small businesses and solo marketers, producing audio ads has traditionally been an expensive hassle involving copywriters, voice talent, and studio recording time. A generative script-and-voice tool means anyone can spin up an audio campaign in minutes without a production budget.
We think Spotify's split strategy makes a lot of sense here. They use high-touch human creatives to win big-ticket deals from global brands, while letting generative AI automate the long tail of self-serve advertisers. The real challenge will be listener fatigue. If Spotify's ad slots get flooded with synthetic, robotic-sounding voiceovers, audience trust and engagement could take a quick hit.
