Pika gives AI agents a face and a voice

Published Reach 37

Pika just launched a beta video chat skill for any AI agent, powered by its new real-time model PikaStream1.0. The tool adds a responsive face and voice while keeping memory and personality intact across calls. Even better: paired with Pika AI Self, agents can execute live tasks without hanging up.

Talking to a text box is starting to feel ancient.

Pika Labs just rolled out a beta video chat skill that works with any AI agent, powered by its brand-new real-time model called PikaStream1.0.

Giving any agent a live face

The new skill basically slaps a dynamic face and synchronized voice onto agent interactions.

According to Pika, the model supports real-time adaptability while preserving the agent's memory and unique personality across different conversations.

Even better, if you pair it with your Pika AI Self, the digital avatar can actually execute agentic tasks in the background while you are actively on the video call.

Why it matters

We think this is a clever pivot from standard video generation toward interactive agent infrastructure.

Instead of just racing rivals on generating cinematic video clips, Pika is turning itself into an embodiment layer for the broader agent ecosystem. For developers, this lowers the bar to transform a dry text assistant into an expressive digital companion.

That said, real-time video chat is notoriously unforgiving when it comes to latency, lip-sync glitches, and server costs. Running agentic tasks mid-call is an ambitious promise, and we will see whether PikaStream1.0 can actually keep up without awkward lags.
