Perplexity Pro now comes with brand perks and PitchBook data
Perplexity just launched Pro Perks, offering Pro subscribers exclusive deals from brands like Visa, Cursor, and Eight Sleep. The search engine is also integrating premium datasets from Statista, PitchBook, and Wiley, giving users direct citations to expert financial, medical, and market research. AI search engines are expanding from web scrapers into comprehensive, high-value decision platforms.

Perplexity is starting to look a lot less like a plain search box and a lot more like an elite credit card rewards program.
The AI search startup just rolled out two major additions across its user tiers: a brand-new perks program offering deep commercial discounts for subscribers, and native integrations with three of the world’s most expensive enterprise data providers.
Discounts in your answers, PitchBook in your citations
The first update is called Pro Perks. Starting this week, Perplexity Pro members get access to a curated roster of exclusive deals from mainstream brands across travel, finance, health, and software.
The initial partner roster includes companies like Visa, Cursor, Eight Sleep, Chase Home Lending, GoodRX, TurboTax, Headspace, and Avis. Instead of just hiding these discounts on a separate membership dashboard, Perplexity plans to surface relevant offers directly within the conversational search interface as users research products and decisions.
The second update tackles search quality directly. Perplexity has integrated high-tier proprietary data from Statista, PitchBook, and medical and academic publisher Wiley.
Normally, accessing this tier of market intelligence and clinical research requires costly enterprise contracts. Perplexity is making it available directly in answer citations, though access is strictly metered. Free users get three premium searches per month, Pro subscribers get five, and Enterprise Pro seats receive ten.
Why it matters
We think this is one of the clearest signs yet that Perplexity is trying to solve the AI search monetization puzzle without resorting to ugly banner ads.
Traditional search engines rely on click-based sponsored links, which completely break down when an AI chatbot delivers synthesized answers. By packaging brand partnerships as VIP subscriber perks, Perplexity gets to collect brand dollars while convincing paying users that their subscription pays for itself.
Bringing in PitchBook and Statista is equally clever on paper. Hallucinations on financial and medical queries are fatal for AI adoption, so plugging directly into gold-standard databases gives them an immediate moat against vanilla search crawlers.
That said, there are clear friction points. The search quotas look surprisingly stingy. Giving a paying Pro user only five premium data queries a month feels like a teaser rather than a serious research workflow tool.
The bigger danger is consumer trust. Search engines live and die by their perceived neutrality. The moment an AI engine starts weaving brand discounts into purchase recommendations, power users are going to wonder whether an answer was generated by pure merit or driven by commercial kickbacks.
