Perplexity turns your search prompts into publishable pages
Perplexity just rolled out Pages, a feature that transforms prompts and search threads into well-formatted, shareable web articles complete with sections and media. Users can customize tone for beginners or pros, and finished pages are indexed by Google. Why it matters: Perplexity is framing this as human-led research curation, turning everyday AI searches into reusable knowledge.

Turning a messy research session into a clean, shareable document usually requires juggling multiple tabs, copy-pasting notes into Google Docs, and spending way too much time formatting headers.
Perplexity wants to handle that entire process in a single click. On May 30, the AI search company introduced Perplexity Pages, a tool designed to convert your searches and conversation threads into polished, publishable web articles.
From raw search to polished articles
Available in the Library section on the web for both free and paid users, the feature starts with a simple prompt, like asking for a comprehensive guide to the Sahara Desert.
Before generating, you can set your target audience to beginner, advanced, or anyone, which tweaks the depth and vocabulary of the text. The engine then drafts a structured article divided into logical sections, automatically embedding relevant photos and videos along the way.
Users retain full editing control. You can prompt the AI to rewrite a clunky paragraph, wipe out irrelevant sections, or spin up a new subtopic on the fly. Existing chat threads can also be converted into pages with a single click.
Once published, each page gets a shareable link that allows readers to jump in and ask follow-up questions. Crucially, these pages are indexed and discoverable through Google search. The rollout is currently rolling out to a limited group first before hitting all users.
Henry Modisett, Perplexity's head of design and an eight-year veteran of Quora, noted that users were already sharing raw search results with colleagues. The team simply wanted to turn those fragmented answers into a presentation-ready product.
Curation over pure generation
With generative AI flooding the web with low-effort blog posts, Perplexity is quick to push back against the idea that Pages is just another spam generator.
Modisett frames the product as human curation rather than automated text generation. Because the human selects the topic, structures the narrative, prunes bad sections, and refines the tone, the output reflects personal judgment and taste.
Like Perplexity's core search engine, Pages prominently highlights citations and source links across the piece. Still, Modisett admitted that the company is watching closely to see how the broader web ecosystem responds to this new format.
Why it matters
For anyone who regularly synthesizes research—whether you are a marketer compiling a competitive audit or a student preparing a study guide—Pages offers an immediately useful shortcut. Instead of spending an hour formatting, you get a clean, interactive document with live citations in minutes.
For the search landscape, this is a clever offensive maneuver against Google. By making user-curated pages public and search-engine indexable, Perplexity is essentially using its own users to generate high-quality, structured pages that could outrank traditional blog posts and scrape organic traffic back into its own ecosystem.
However, we think this strategy carries significant friction. Web publishers are already on high alert over AI scrapers cannibalizing their traffic. If Perplexity-generated pages end up siphoning clicks away from the very websites they cite, copyright pushback and algorithmic penalties from traditional search engines will likely intensify quickly.
