Perplexity just introduced Perplexity Max, its highest subscription tier yet. It packs unlimited monthly usage of Labs for building apps and dashboards, access to cutting-edge models like OpenAI o3-pro and Claude Opus 4, and first dibs on its upcoming AI-first web browser, Comet.

If you are constantly hitting usage caps on Perplexity Pro while building apps or dashboards, Perplexity just built a tier specifically for you.

The AI search company rolled out Perplexity Max, its most advanced subscription tier to date, designed for power users who need uncapped productivity and day-one access to upcoming products.

Unlimited Labs and top-tier frontier models

The biggest functional upgrade in Max is unlimited monthly usage for Perplexity Labs. Pro subscribers have been using Labs to generate dashboards, spreadsheets, presentations, and lightweight web apps, but always under usage ceilings. Max strips those caps away entirely.

Under the hood, Max bundles access to the highest-end reasoning models on the market, including OpenAI o3-pro and Anthropic Claude Opus 4, with a commitment to add newer frontier models as they launch. Subscribers also get dedicated priority customer support.

The front row for Comet

Max is also positioned as an exclusive early-access club. Subscribers will be the very first to test Comet, Perplexity's newly revealed custom web browser built from scratch to act as an AI thought partner across the web.

Perplexity noted that exclusive premium data sources and partner brand perks are on the way for Max members. Meanwhile, the $20-per-month Pro tier remains unchanged for everyday power users, and an Enterprise version of Max with unlimited Labs is slated for release in the near future. The plan is live right now on web and iOS.

Why it matters

For power researchers, competitive intelligence analysts, and creators who push AI orchestration to its limits daily, Max solves the constant headache of juggling multiple standalone subscriptions across OpenAI and Anthropic. Getting unmetered Labs alongside Opus 4 and o3-pro in a single interface is a massive convenience.

That said, if you are primarily using Perplexity to summarize articles or conduct everyday searches, the standard $20 Pro plan is still more than enough. Upgrading makes sense only if Labs is central to your workflow or you are desperate to test the Comet browser.

Strategically, Perplexity is moving far beyond search. By wrapping top-tier models, an orchestration canvas, and a full-fledged browser into a single ecosystem, it is actively trying to become your default operating surface on the web. The real test will be sustainability: running unmetered access to ultra-heavyweight models like o3-pro is notoriously expensive, and power users will quickly notice if hidden throttling or queueing creeps in.
