OpenAI expands ChatGPT file uploads and boosts reasoning limits

Published Reach 41

OpenAI just rolled out file and image upload support for both o1 and o3-mini inside ChatGPT. Plus subscribers also get a 7x limit increase for o3-mini-high, up to 50 messages per day, making it much more practical to feed complex documents and diagrams straight into top reasoning models.

OpenAI just rolled out two practical upgrades to its reasoning models inside ChatGPT.

First, OpenAI o1 and o3-mini now officially support both file and image uploads. You can now feed charts, PDFs, and code files straight into these reasoning-heavy models for deeper breakdowns.

Second, OpenAI gave Plus subscribers a lot more breathing room: daily limits for o3-mini-high were increased by 7x, bringing the cap up to 50 messages per day.

Why it matters

For power users and developers, this removes two of the most annoying hurdles around the new reasoning lineup. Having to copy-paste walls of text or skip image analysis entirely held these models back from day-to-day work.

Bumping o3-mini-high to 50 prompts a day makes it something you can actually rely on during a workday, rather than a limited tool you have to ration. We think OpenAI is moving fast to make its specialized reasoning models feel like everyday workhorses.
