OpenAI gives ChatGPT eight new personalities
OpenAI just rolled out eight preset chat styles in ChatGPT's personalization tab, ranging from Professional and Nerdy to Candid and Cynical. Instead of constantly writing custom instructions to tone down the bot's sycophancy or make it more direct, users can now toggle a full vibe shift with a single click.

If you are tired of begging ChatGPT to stop sounding like an eager intern, OpenAI just gave you an easier out.
OpenAI announced on X that it added 8 chat styles directly to the personalization tab in ChatGPT, letting users quickly pick the tone they want without typing custom instructions.
Dial in the attitude
Users can now choose between Default, Professional, Candid, Quirky, Nerdy, and Cynical.
OpenAI also gave two existing personas a branding facelift: Listener is now Friendly, and Robot has been renamed to Efficient.
Basically, the update packages the most common system-prompt style tweaks into ready-made presets.
Why it matters
Prompt fatigue is real. Spending tokens and time telling an AI not to over-explain or flatter you gets annoying fast. Putting styles like Efficient or Candid into native toggles saves daily users from constantly resetting expectations.
We think this is a smart, low-friction tweak. Renaming Robot to Efficient is also clever marketing, framing concise answers as productive rather than cold. The real test is whether these presets are rigid enough to prevent the model from drifting back into its usual habits over long chats.
