Hollywood stars turn to Metaphysic to guard their digital clones

Published Reach 37

Metaphysic just launched Metaphysic Pro, a new platform designed to help actors create and manage their own AI-generated likeness and voice data. Early adopters include Tom Hanks and Anne Hathaway. Why it matters: As Hollywood strikes over AI rights, performers are actively looking for ways to lock down their consent and get paid when their digital twins work.

Hollywood is currently on strike over AI replacing actors, but some of the industry’s biggest A-listers just decided to take control of their digital clones instead of fighting them.

AI company Metaphysic just unveiled Metaphysic Pro, a new platform designed to help high-profile talent create and manage their personal AI data. The early roster is stacked: Tom Hanks, Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Rita Wilson, Paris Hilton, and tennis star Maria Sharapova have all signed up.

Managing your digital likeness

Metaphysic Pro aims to tackle the biggest headache in modern entertainment: ownership of a person’s face and voice.

Basically, the platform lets actors use generative AI models to build a verified library of their facial features, voice, and performance data over time. Once that data is captured, Metaphysic helps talent manage how third parties use it, covering critical issues like consent, compensation, and ongoing copyright questions.

Metaphysic CEO Thomas Graham framed the move as essential self-defense, arguing that performers and regular citizens alike need active tools to protect their data before someone else creates an unauthorized, perfect AI copy of them.

From viral deepfakes to studio productions

You might remember Metaphysic as the team behind the wildly viral @DeepTomCruise videos on TikTok. Since then, the startup has aggressively courted traditional Hollywood.

Back in January, Metaphysic locked down a strategic partnership with powerhouse talent agency CAA, which happens to represent Hanks, Wilson, Spencer, and Hathaway.

This is not just theoretical software, either. Metaphysic is already deploying its real-time tech, Metaphysic Live, to de-age Tom Hanks and Robin Wright for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming Miramax film Here.

Why it matters

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike proved that actors are terrified of studios owning their digital twins forever. Metaphysic is offering an alternative: don't ban AI, monetize and control it.

For talent, this turns likeness into managed intellectual property. Instead of hoping production contracts protect them, actors can set explicit terms for where their voice or face appears and get paid accordingly. The catch is that right now, this looks like a luxury reserved for superstars backed by mega-agencies like CAA, leaving working-class background actors without the same leverage.

For the industry, Metaphysic is making a brilliant land grab. By aligning with top agents and beloved actors, it is trying to become the clearinghouse and default DRM layer for Hollywood’s AI era. The big open question is whether talent is actually taking back control, or simply trading the whims of film studios for the terms of service of a tech platform.
