Meta just dropped its next big bet on your face.

Partnering with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, the company introduced Meta Glasses, a brand-new lineup of AI smart glasses starting at $299. Instead of just leaning on the Ray-Ban badge, this marks Meta pushing its own hardware branding directly into mainstream optical retail.

Kylie Jenner frames and a 40-hour case

If you want people to keep a camera on their face from breakfast to bedtime, it has to look good. Meta clearly learned that lesson, launching 26 style combinations across three distinct frame silhouettes.

You have the Meta Adventurer, a classic rectangular frame coming in standard and large sizes. Then comes the bolder, blockier Meta Fury. The real headline-grabber, though, is the Meta Glasses by Kylie, a slim oval pair designed alongside Kylie Jenner.

All three frames support prescription lenses and pack three-way adjustable nose pads, which should solve the awkward fit issues that plagued earlier models.

Battery life also took a jump. The glasses now promise over 8 hours of juice on a single charge, paired with a foldable carrying case that adds up to 40 hours of backup power. You still get open-ear speakers, an upgraded wind-resistant mic array, hands-free video capture, and a new dedicated action button to trigger Meta AI or custom shortcuts on the fly.

Powered by Muse Spark

Under the hood, Meta Glasses are the first device powered out of the box by Muse Spark, a multimodal model developed specifically for hardware by Meta Superintelligence Labs.

The updated Meta AI is supposed to understand what you are staring at much faster, whether that means identifying neighborhood spots or pulling up calendar details. The Muse Spark upgrade kicks off in the US and Canada first.

Software tricks are rolling out right alongside the hardware. A new dynamic photo feature snaps a quick burst of frames and automatically recommends the sharpest one. Meta also promised displayless turn-by-turn walking navigation soon, plus live voice translation expanding into 14 languages, including Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi. Units are already on shelves at Meta.com, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, and Sunglass Hut.

Why it matters

For everyday buyers, this might finally cross the line from novelty gadget to daily driver. If you already wear prescription glasses and want open-ear audio, decent casual video clips, and an assistant that can see what you see, $299 for all-day battery is a solid pitch. The lack of a display is still a trade-off, meaning navigation and notifications rely entirely on audio.

In the broader hardware race, Meta is doing the smartest thing possible by prioritizing fashion and distribution over clunky AR optics. Bringing in celebrity collabs and sitting on shelves inside LensCrafters matters far more to real-world adoption than cramming in micro-OLED displays.

The real test will be social friction. An 8-hour battery with an improved camera makes these far more ubiquitous in daily life, and whether public spaces welcome always-ready cameras on people’s noses remains an unresolved headache for Meta.
