Krea AI adds 3D generator and rolls out site redesign

Published Reach 48

Krea just officially launched a 3D generation feature alongside a complete website redesign. Users can now turn text prompts and 2D images directly into 3D assets ready for export to Blender or Unity. Industry insiders speculate it may borrow from Tencent's Hunyuan tech, marking a big push from 2D images into full 3D creative workflows.

Turning a 2D sketch into a usable 3D model usually means hours of painstaking sculpting, retopology, and UV mapping. Krea wants to cut that down to a single prompt.

The real-time creative platform just rolled out a new 3D generation tool alongside a total redesign of its website.

From text prompt straight to Blender

Krea built its reputation on blistering-fast, real-time image and video generation. Now, it is moving into the third dimension.

Users can now generate 3D assets directly from text prompts or by uploading 2D reference images. Once a model is generated, you can inspect the geometry, adjust camera angles, and refine details right inside the browser.

Crucially, this is not just a viewer trick. Krea lets users export the finished meshes directly into industry-standard software like Blender and Unity, making it practical for game development and concept art workflows.

Alongside the 3D tool, Krea introduced a cleaner, more streamlined website navigation to organize generation tools and asset libraries. Some community members noted the new interface takes a bit of getting used to, but the flow is clearly built for speed.

The Hunyuan connection

Under the hood, industry analysts speculate that Krea may be tapping into Tencent's open-source Hunyuan 3D architecture, known for its two-stage pipeline that generates geometry via diffusion transformers before synthesizing high-resolution surface textures.

Krea has not officially confirmed the rumor, simply noting that the release focuses on delivering a smoother and more capable creative experience.

With heavy compute demands tied to 3D synthesis, users have raised concerns over whether the feature will remain accessible or quickly get locked behind strict paywalls. The Krea team promised ongoing performance optimizations to keep the core functionality open across its user base.

Why it matters

We think Krea is making the right bet at the right time.

2D image generation is largely commoditized. By packaging prompt-to-3D directly alongside real-time image generation and letting users export cleanly into Blender or Unity, Krea gives indie game developers, e-commerce designers, and concept artists a legitimate rapid-prototyping pipeline. It is definitely worth testing today if you need placeholder meshes or fast asset concepts.

The broader race is shifting from single-task image generators toward all-in-one creative suites. Krea's real-time UX combined with 3D production puts pressure on rivals to offer full asset pipelines rather than isolated features.

Still, there are hurdles. Pure generative 3D meshes rarely feature clean edge flow or game-ready topology right out of the box, meaning manual clean-up is still required. If high server rendering costs eventually squeeze free quotas, maintaining enthusiasm will depend on how cleanly Krea balances infrastructure bills with user access.
