HeyGen's new tool turns docs into two-host video podcasts
HeyGen just rolled out Video Podcast, a new tool that transforms documents, links, or prompts into fully produced two-host video shows. Instead of stopping at audio, it automatically generates studio scenes, multi-camera switching, and B-roll in minutes. Why it matters: it turns static text into broadcast-ready video content with zero filming required.
Turning a text document into a podcast isn't new, but turning it into a fully staged TV-style broadcast in minutes is another story.
HeyGen just launched Video Podcast, a new tool designed to convert any document, web link, or rough idea into a two-host video show.
Studio scenes, camera cuts, and B-roll included
Unlike traditional AI audio generators that stop at voices, HeyGen builds an entire visual studio.
The tool outputs a polished video featuring two virtual hosts sitting in a studio setting, complete with multi-camera perspective cuts as each host speaks. To keep viewers engaged, it also weaves in relevant B-roll footage automatically, producing a ready-to-publish video in minutes.
HeyGen put it bluntly when announcing the release, claiming that everyone else stops at audio, while this delivers a real show you can post right away.
Why it matters
We think this is a smart evolution for generative video. Tools like Google's NotebookLM showed how much audiences love casual two-host banter, but creators still had to figure out how to package that audio for visual-first platforms like YouTube.
HeyGen is collapsing the entire production pipeline, from script and casting down to set design and camera switching. For content teams and marketers, it looks like an effortless way to repurpose long reports into social-ready video without hiring a studio.
The real test will be conversational pacing. In video, unnatural pauses or stiff eye contact break immersion much faster than in audio, but this clearly moves AI video closer to automated showrunning.
