Google adds NotebookLM Plus to its One AI Premium bundle

If you rely on Google's NotebookLM to digest research papers or turn dense documents into conversational AI podcasts, your subscription just got a notable upgrade.

Google has officially added NotebookLM Plus to its Google One AI Premium tier at no extra cost, bringing enterprise-grade research perks to individual subscribers.

Five times the limits and custom controls

NotebookLM first launched in 2023, and Google rolled out the Plus edition to businesses and schools back in December. Now individual power users get the same perks.

Subscribers get five times more Audio Overviews, notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook compared to the free version. The upgrade also lets you customize NotebookLM's response styles, configure advanced sharing options, and track daily notebook views.

Google One AI Premium costs $19.99 per month, which already bundles 2TB of cloud storage, access to Gemini Advanced, and Workspace integrations. Eligible college students in the US can get it for $9.99 per month for their first year.

Why it matters

NotebookLM's Audio Overview feature has become one of Google's surprise viral hits, but serious researchers quickly hit the caps on the free tier. Bumping those limits by 5x makes the tool significantly more practical for students, writers, and analysts.

We think this is a smart retention move for Google. At $20 a month, raw chatbot performance alone isn't enough to beat ChatGPT Plus. By bundling a genuinely unique productivity workflow alongside cloud storage and Gemini models, Google is giving subscribers a compelling reason to stick around.
