Google Labs debuts CC, a Gmail AI agent that plans your day
Google Labs just rolled out CC, an experimental AI productivity agent powered by Gemini. CC connects your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive to drop a personalized “Your Day Ahead” briefing right into your inbox each morning, complete with drafted replies and calendar links. For now, it is waitlist-only for paid subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.

Google wants to clean up your messy mornings, and it is using an AI inbox assistant to do it.
Google Labs just announced CC, an experimental AI productivity agent powered by Gemini designed to organize your daily grind directly inside your inbox.
A personalized morning briefing in your inbox
Once connected, CC hooks into your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and the wider web to figure out what your day actually looks like.
Every morning, it drops a "Your Day Ahead" briefing straight into your inbox. The email rounds up your appointments, key deadlines, and upcoming tasks, like paying an overdue bill or prepping for a doctor visit.
Even better, CC does not just tell you what to do. It drafts replies and generates ready-to-click calendar invites so you can knock out actions with minimal friction.
You can also train CC on the fly. Replying to its briefing or shooting it an email lets you pass along custom requests, teach it your preferences, or tell it to log quick reminders and todos.
For now, CC is an early-stage Labs experiment. Early access is rolling out to consumer Google account holders aged 18 and older in the U.S. and Canada, with priority given to Google AI Ultra and paid subscribers while others join a waitlist.
Why it matters
Instead of building another separate chat interface people have to remember to open, Google is smart to meet users where they already start their workdays: email.
For busy professionals and freelancers juggling dozens of threads across Google Workspace, an agent that acts like an asynchronous executive assistant is genuinely useful. Reviewing a draft email and clicking send is infinitely faster than drafting from scratch.
Strategically, this is Google Labs pushing Gemini from a reactive chatbot into an active personal agent that monitors your digital footprint and takes initiative. It directly challenges Microsoft's push with Copilot inside Outlook and 365.
The real test will be trust. Handing an AI full read access across Drive, Gmail, and Calendar asks for immense user confidence. If CC hallucinates a meeting time or drafts an awkward reply to an important client, users will pull the plug fast. But if it works reliably, this could turn into the default morning ritual for Workspace users.
