Google gives Ads and Analytics an AI agent makeover
Google just upgraded Google Ads and Google Analytics with new Gemini-powered agentic tools, expanding its in-product AI agent Ask Advisor. The update adds AI Overviews on the homepage, anonymized industry benchmarks, and prompt-driven dashboards that turn raw marketing data into visual reports with real-time explanations.

If you have ever opened Google Analytics on a Monday morning only to drown in an ocean of line charts and pivot tables, Google thinks Gemini can finally take that headache off your plate.
Google announced a sweep of AI updates across Google Ads and Google Analytics. Powered by Gemini, the rollout centers on supercharging Ask Advisor, the in-product AI agent designed to turn data analysis and campaign execution into a natural conversation.
Smarter homepages and prompt-to-chart reports
Google Analytics now kicks off with AI Overviews pinned directly to the top of the homepage. Instead of hunting through menus, you get an immediate debrief on what moved while you were away, whether it was a sudden traffic dip or a seasonal sales surge, alongside recommended next steps.
Clicking any insight card pulls its exact context into Ask Advisor for deeper drilling. If you do not live inside the dashboard, you can opt into email or phone notifications on your own schedule.
Over in Google Ads, the homepage now features personalized insight cards topped by an open prompt box. Marketers can type specific questions, such as how competitors are chipping away at impression share, to generate bespoke analytical cards.
Reporting is also shedding its friction. The new Dashboards tool in Google Ads, which will expand to Google Analytics soon, turns plain text prompts into full visual reports. Every auto-generated chart includes a real-time summary explaining the "why" behind the metrics.
On top of that, Ask Advisor in Google Analytics now offers competitive benchmarking, allowing teams to stack their numbers against anonymized industry averages.
Why it matters
Google is doing something clever here: rather than tacking on another generic chatbot sidebar, it is burying Gemini deep into the grunt work of daily ad ops.
For performance marketers and small teams, this is worth testing immediately. Generating visual reports on the fly and benchmarking against anonymized peer data removes the need for clunky third-party BI software or tedious spreadsheet exports.
However, there is an obvious tension. When the AI giving you tactical spend advice is built by the very platform charging your credit card, you have to wonder where the algorithm's loyalties lie. Marketers will love the time savings, but letting Ask Advisor run entirely on autopilot might be risky.
Across the industry, this puts immediate pressure on Meta and Amazon Ads to beef up their own in-app agentic copilots. As technical reporting becomes automated, the real differentiator in paid media will swing back to product quality and creative execution.
