Claude opens its doors to 95 countries
Anthropic just expanded web access to claude.ai, officially rolling out its flagship AI assistant to users across 95 countries for professional and everyday tasks. It’s a major leap forward from its initial US- and UK-only availability, giving millions more users direct access to Claude.

For months, accessing Claude felt like trying to get into an exclusive club. Unless you were based in the US or the UK, trying Anthropic's flagship model meant jumping through hoops or settling for third-party wrappers.
That just changed. Anthropic officially expanded web access for Claude to 95 countries, letting millions more people talk to the AI and test its capabilities for free.
Breaking out of the US and UK
When Anthropic launched Claude 2 back in July, access was strictly limited to users in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Now, users across 95 countries including Australia and New Zealand can log into claude.ai directly to get help with daily work and coding tasks.
Two massive markets are still conspicuously absent from the list: Canada and the entire European Union.
Much like the hurdles Google faced when rolling out Bard, Europe's strict privacy rules appear to be keeping Anthropic's lawyers busy before they can safely turn on the switch there.
The heavyweight champ of long documents
While ChatGPT took the world by storm, Claude carved out its own loyal following thanks to a massive 100,000 token context window.
On rival platforms, uploading a massive PDF often means parts of the document get silently cut off. Claude 2 handles giant files natively, letting you drop in full financial reports or messy codebases and ask detailed questions right away.
Anthropic also tuned Claude 2 to score significantly higher in coding and math benchmarks compared to Claude 1.3, all while doubling down on generating harmless answers that reduce corporate safety concerns.
Why it matters
We think this rollout gives knowledge workers one of the most capable free productivity upgrades available right now.
If you regularly sift through 50-page PDFs, complex legal terms, or technical documentation, Claude 2 remains the benchmark for document digestion without having to pay for premium subscriptions.
For the AI race, Anthropic is finally turning its technical edge into a mainstream global user base. Relying only on the US and the UK left too much territory open to OpenAI.
However, keeping the EU and Canada locked out is a clear headache. Competitors are racing to expand their own context limits, meaning Anthropic's document processing advantage will face fierce pressure before it even manages to launch in Europe.
