Claude Design is now baked into Claude Code
Anthropic just integrated Claude Design across all Claude chats and Claude Code. You can now type /design directly in the terminal to generate on-brand UI layouts pulled straight from your codebase, fine-tune spacing and color on the canvas, and immediately hand the mockup off to code or tools like Vercel.

For most developers building a new product, the real bottleneck isn't writing the business logic—it's figuring out the UI. You either wait in line for a designer or hack together generic buttons that look like an off-the-shelf template.
Anthropic just removed that friction entirely. Claude Design is now baked directly into all Claude conversations and Claude Code across both the desktop client and the CLI.
Pulling real components straight from your repo
The killer feature here is that Claude Design doesn't just invent layouts out of thin air. It reads your actual codebase.
Type /design directly into your terminal, and Claude pulls the design system living in your GitHub repo, local project, or design assets. Instead of generating generic mockups, it builds using your team's real React components, colors, and typography rules.
Once it generates a few options, you can pick an artboard and refine it right on the canvas. You can click to edit copy, drag to resize and align, or use adjustment sliders Claude automatically spins up for fine-tuning padding, spacing, and colors.
If your design system is a bit of a mess, there is even a cleanup button that lets Claude tidy up tokens and component structures during migration.
From canvas to Vercel in minutes
Handing off the design is just as seamless as generating it.
Once you lock in a layout, you can transition straight into Claude Code to implement it, export clean HTML, PDF, or PPTX files, or ship the frontend straight to Vercel. Anthropic also built connectors for platforms like Replit, Lovable, and Wix.
On the creative side, integrations with Adobe Express let teams spin up marketing collateral from the same source, while Gamma and Miro hooks keep decks and whiteboards in sync.
Best of all, Claude Design is included across all tiers, including the Free plan, with usage simply drawing down standard artifact limits.
Why it matters
We think this is one of Anthropic's smartest product updates yet, zeroing in on the awkward handoff between interface design and frontend code.
Historically, AI coding tools excelled at logic but remained blind to visual context, while AI canvas tools generated designs that were impossible to implement cleanly. By letting Claude read existing component libraries before drawing a single frame, the gap between what you see on the canvas and what runs in your app basically vanishes.
This fundamentally alters the competitive landscape for developer tools. The battle is no longer about who autocompletes syntax faster; it's about owning the entire lifecycle from idea to deployed interface. Competitors will now have to figure out how to match a workflow where terminal, canvas, and hosting sit in one unified feedback loop.
The real winners right now are solo founders and lean engineering teams. If you already maintain a clean design system, turning a raw feature concept into a production-ready interface just went from a multi-day sprint to an afternoon project.
