ChatGPT's Dots can now be made on your phone and delegate to Codex
ChatGPT just rolled out a batch of upgrades to its Dots feature. You can now build custom Dots directly inside the mobile app on iOS and Android, and let them delegate tasks straight to Codex. Dots can also manage scheduled tasks in ChatGPT Work, alongside smoother scrolling and cleaner code blocks.

Building a custom AI helper used to be a sit-at-your-desk task, but OpenAI is finally bringing that workflow straight to your pocket.
ChatGPT just rolled out a fresh batch of updates to its Dots feature. The biggest immediate change is mobile creation: you can now build a Dot directly from the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android.
Handing the heavy lifting to Codex
The update also gives Dots significantly more agency under the hood.
Dots can now delegate tasks directly to Codex, spinning up new jobs or following up on existing threads using ChatGPT conversations and automations.
Inside ChatGPT Work, Dots can review and edit your Scheduled Tasks. On top of that, OpenAI tossed in a handful of quality-of-life fixes: faster browsing, smoother scrolling, fewer spammy notifications, cleaner code blocks, easier Outlook setup, and more reliable Enterprise access.
Why it matters
We think this quietly shifts Dots from simple persona prompts toward actual agentic dispatchers.
Letting a Dot hand off coding work to Codex means it is no longer just generating text in a vacuum, but coordinating specialized tools to get real work done. Lowering the creation barrier to mobile also makes spinning up single-use bots much more spontaneous.
The catch, as always with multi-agent handoffs, is reliability. Letting one AI delegate to another sounds great until context gets lost in translation, so watching how cleanly these automations execute will be the real test.
