ChatGPT Codex adds $visualize command for instant diagrams
ChatGPT Work and Codex just rolled out a handy new $visualize command. By typing $visualize alongside any text or data, the interface turns your prompt into a visual diagram. It is an effortless upgrade for visual thinkers tired of staring at walls of text.

Staring at walls of text while debugging or learning is exhausting, but a quick shortcut just made things a lot easier on the eyes.
Katia Gil Guzman shared on X that ChatGPT Work and Codex have quietly added a dedicated command: type "$visualize" followed by your text, and the interface will instantly turn your raw information into visual diagrams.
Text to diagrams with a single prefix
This feature targets visual learners who process diagrams far better than dense paragraphs.
Instead of prompting ChatGPT to build a custom chart or copy-pasting code into external diagramming apps, you simply prefix your input with "$visualize".
Codex then parses the context and delivers a visual layout directly inside the workspace, removing the friction of context switching during deep work.
Why it matters
We think baked-in command shortcuts are always better than forcing users to guess the right prompt.
For developers and knowledge workers who spend hours in Codex or ChatGPT Work, this turns diagramming into a zero-friction habit that is definitely worth testing on your next complex breakdown.
That said, its usefulness will ultimately depend on how accurately it formats dense data; while great for quick mental models, serious system design will likely still need dedicated diagramming software.
