ChatGPT turns code blocks into full interactive editors
OpenAI just upgraded ChatGPT with interactive code blocks, adding split-screen and full-screen editing right inside the chat window. Users can now write, tweak, and preview diagrams or mini-apps in real time without constantly copying code to an external IDE. Coding inside the chatbot basically just became a lot more seamless.

Anyone who codes with ChatGPT knows the tedious dance of copying a snippet, pasting it into VS Code, tweaking a variable, and pasting it back.
OpenAI just rolled out an update to fix that workflow, turning ChatGPT's static code blocks into fully interactive workspaces with split-screen and full-screen modes.
Edit and preview without leaving the chat
Users can now write, edit, and review code directly inside the ChatGPT interface.
The update lets you build and preview diagrams as well as mini apps right inside the conversation. When you need context, you can review changes side by side in split-screen view. If you need more room to work, you can expand the block into full-screen mode to make direct edits.
Why it matters
We think this is OpenAI finally answering Anthropic’s Artifacts, which has been one of Claude's biggest competitive moats for developers and vibe coders alike.
By turning raw code blocks into editable, previewable canvases, ChatGPT eliminates the friction of jumping out to an external editor for quick prototypes and scripts. It pushes ChatGPT further away from being just a text-in, text-out chatbot and closer to an interactive development environment right in your browser.
