Adobe Firefly goes unlimited with top AI models

Published Reach 40

Adobe just unlocked unlimited image and video generations for Firefly subscribers. The update includes Adobe's own commercially safe models alongside third-party heavyweights like Google Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image Generation, and Runway Gen-4 Image. Users can generate up to 2K resolution without counting credits, removing the pressure of trial and error before exporting to Photoshop or Premiere.

If you've spent any time working with generative image or video models, you know the dreaded "token anxiety" — that feeling of rationing prompts because you're watching a monthly credit balance bleed away.

Adobe is finally pulling the plug on that counter. On February 2, the company announced unlimited image and video generations inside Adobe Firefly for subscribers, removing credit caps across its creative suite.

Third-party models invite themselves to the all-you-can-eat buffet

The offer covers subscribers on Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, and the existing 4,000, 7,000, and 50,000 credit plans who jump in before March 16. It unlocks unconstrained generation on firefly.adobe.com, inside the collaborative Firefly Boards surface, and via the Firefly mobile app on iOS and Android. Video generation tops out at 2K resolution.

What makes this genuinely wild is the lineup. This isn't just unlimited access to Adobe's own commercially safe models. Adobe is throwing open the doors to third-party heavyweights as well, including Google's Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image Generation, and Runway Gen-4 Image.

Adobe also shared some telling data alongside the drop: 86% of creators now use creative AI daily, and the average Firefly prompt length actually doubled over the course of 2025. People aren't just firing off single-word keywords anymore; they're conversing with models and treating prompt crafting like an iterative craft.

To keep people in the groove, Adobe is pitching features like Prompt to Edit (swapping objects and backgrounds via conversational text), Firefly Boards for team moodboarding, and an in-browser video assembly editor bundled with licensed music tracks.

Why it matters

We think this is one of the smartest, most aggressive ecosystem plays Adobe has pulled in the generative era.

For creators and small design shops, infinite generations change how you actually work. Ideation isn't a straight line; it's dozens of bad variations before you land on something viable. By ditching per-generation metering, Adobe removes the hesitation to experiment. The real killer feature, though, is the exit ramp: once you nail an asset in Firefly, you round-trip it straight into Photoshop or Premiere for real production work.

For standalone AI generation startups, this is terrifying news. Competing on standalone image or video generation when Adobe packages Runway, Google, and OpenAI models together with unlimited iterations — backed by production-grade finishing software — makes pure-play web wrappers look increasingly vulnerable. The only looming question is whether Adobe's infrastructure can handle the compute load without throttling or queue slowdowns during peak hours.
