Turn headlines into YouTube Shorts for ten cents

Published Reach 59

An open-source tool called YouTube Shorts Pipeline just automated short-form video creation down to a single command. It chains Claude, Gemini, ElevenLabs, and Whisper to produce and publish a YouTube Short in 3 to 5 minutes, running locally under an MIT license for around $0.10 per video.

Type a topic into your terminal, wait three to five minutes, and get a live YouTube Short.

An open-source project called YouTube Shorts Pipeline has completely automated short-form content production. The financial breakdown is what really turns heads: Claude drafts the script for $0.02, Gemini Imagen generates the visuals for $0.03, ElevenLabs handles the voiceover for $0.05, and Whisper aligns the audio. The whole video costs roughly ten cents in API calls.

Four models in one local loop

The project is 100% open source under the MIT license. Everything runs locally on your machine with zero third-party cloud infrastructure needed beyond standard API keys.

It also comes with sensible safeguards. You get a dry-run preview mode, the ability to manually override the script before rendering, support for multiple languages, and custom voice IDs.

Why it matters

Solo creators just got an absurd amount of leverage. Until now, churning out daily faceless shorts meant gluing four different web dashboards together by hand. This pipeline collapses that workflow into a single terminal command.

At ten cents a pop, it makes rapid content experimentation virtually free. The flip side, of course, is that YouTube and TikTok are about to get flooded with even more low-effort automated content, which will inevitably push platforms to crack down harder on AI assembly lines.
