You.com's new research agent reads 400 sources in 5 minutes
You.com just launched ARI, a professional-grade research agent designed for enterprises that digests up to 400 web sources simultaneously. Unlike standard agents that read pages sequentially, ARI delivers a cited report with interactive charts and a downloadable PDF in about five minutes. It is currently available as a preview on You.com Labs.

Hiring a management consultancy for an industry deep dive usually takes weeks and thousands of dollars. Now, AI is trying to squeeze that entire workflow into the length of a coffee break.
On Thursday, You.com launched Advanced Research & Insights (ARI), an enterprise research agent designed to act as an on-demand management consultant for research-heavy teams.
300 sources parsed in three minutes
Unlike standard search bots that spit out bullet points, ARI is built for massive synthesis. According to You.com, the agent can simultaneously analyze up to 400 sources and return an extensive report with interactive charts, visualizations, and verifiable citations in roughly five minutes.
In hands-on testing with a prompt about the science of fasting before workouts, ARI delivered a multi-section report in just three minutes. During that window, the tool live-scraped and analyzed 329 distinct web pages.
The resulting output featured eight distinct sections with sub-headers, full footnotes for every claim, and a comparative table contrasting intermittent fasting with time-restricted feeding. Even better, ARI wrapped up the answer by generating a formatted PDF resembling a peer-reviewed research paper, complete with a clean cover image, a table of contents, and polished two-column layout.
The deep research arms race
Speed and scale are the primary battlegrounds here. You.com co-founder and CTO Bryan McCann explained that ARI uses chain-of-thought reasoning combined with extended test-time compute, allowing the system to keep context across hundreds of sources simultaneously and dynamically pull in adjacent research areas.
While You.com’s standard free agent handles up to 200 sources, the company claims rivals often process just 30 to 40 sequentially. For comparison, OpenAI’s Deep Research looks through hundreds of sources in five to 30 minutes behind its $20 monthly subscription, while Google Gemini’s equivalent takes five to 10 minutes at the same price point. Enterprises can currently test ARI through You.com Labs.
Why it matters
For enterprise analysts, strategists, and consultants, tools like ARI shift the bottleneck from information gathering to critical decision-making. Getting a clean, footnoted, 300-source synthesis packaged into a presentation-ready PDF in three minutes changes how desk research gets done inside corporations.
We think You.com's approach is sharp: instead of competing on generic conversational queries, it is positioning itself squarely around executive-grade deliverables. Generating a structured, double-column PDF report is a subtle but effective way to fit right into corporate habits.
However, the real test will be accuracy and signal-to-noise control. Processing 400 web sources simultaneously sounds impressive, but when enterprise strategy is on the line, one hallucinated metric or unvetted blog post can spoil the entire analysis. As the deep research race heats up across OpenAI, Google, and You.com, verification reliability will matter far more than raw source counts.
