xAI bundles Grok, Cursor, and X into one subscription

Published Reach 50

xAI just launched The X Subscription, bundling Grok, Cursor, and X Premium into a single plan starting from $8 to $200 a month. The standout $30 Premium tier replaces three separate plans that previously cost $90 combined, sharing a pooled Grok usage allowance across both Grok and Cursor. Why it matters: It’s an aggressive all-in-one developer bundle that undercuts standalone AI subscriptions.

If you are paying for an AI coding editor, an LLM chatbot, and a social platform checkmark, your monthly software bill is probably a mess. Cursor Pro alone runs twenty dollars, SuperGrok is another chunk, and X Premium adds up fast.

xAI is now bundling all of them into a single receipt. The company just launched The X Subscription, a unified membership combining Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium into one shared plan.

Cutting three bills down to thirty bucks

The unified subscription comes in five tiers, spanning from a limited free option up to eight, thirty, one hundred, and two hundred dollars per month. Each paid tier taps into a shared usage pool across both Grok apps and Cursor that refreshes every week.

The standout deal is clearly the thirty-dollar Premium plan. Previously, keeping SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+ active at the same time set you back ninety dollars a month. The new bundle gives you all three for a third of the cost, while dishing out at least twice as much coding usage on Grok models as standalone Cursor.

Power users can step up to the Super and Ultra plans for fifteen and fifty times the base usage allowance. If you still want to run third-party models inside Cursor, Premium tiers still let you do that by paying standard API list prices via top-ups.

Team buyers also get a sweet deal. Seats on team plans cost the exact same per person as individual tiers, undercutting older Cursor Teams pricing while throwing in three times more coding capacity, SSO, admin tools, and SOC 2 compliance.

Existing users can choose between staying on their current plans or switching through their billing settings for a prorated refund and promotional perks.

Why it matters

Bundling is the oldest trick in enterprise tech, but xAI is using it aggressively here. While OpenAI and Anthropic are still charging standalone subscriptions for standalone chat apps, xAI is tying daily coding habits directly to social distribution and foundation models.

For developers, switching is almost a no-brainer if you already pay for Cursor Pro. Spending an extra ten dollars to get top-tier Grok access and X Premium perks is exceptional value right now. The catch is vendor lock-in. Once your team workflow and social presence revolve around one ecosystem, walking away becomes painful.

We think this puts serious pressure on rival AI labs. When top-tier developer tools get subsidized by a broader platform ecosystem, selling a simple chat subscription at twenty dollars a month starts looking like a very tough sell.
