xAI rolls out free Live Search API for Grok

Most AI models struggle with breaking news because web search APIs are often stale. xAI is taking a different route by hooking directly into the world's biggest real-time newsfeed.

xAI just launched its Live Search API in beta, giving Grok real-time access to the live web. Even better for developers, the API is currently free to use for a limited time.

Grok taps into the live firehose

With Live Search enabled, Grok is no longer limited by static training cutoff dates.

Developers can now pull in real-time information from across the web, including trending news and live posts directly from X. That means apps built on xAI can track unfolding stories and online conversations as they happen in seconds.

xAI opened access through its developer docs, keeping it free during the initial rollout to get builders on board.
