xAI drops Grok Build beta with agent planning and CLI tools
xAI just launched Grok Build in beta for SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers. The developer suite brings a Plan Mode for task mapping, an Imagine tool to generate images and videos, and a dedicated CLI for crafting automations and orchestrators. It gives Grok power users a direct route from idea to finished agent workflow.

xAI doesn’t want Grok to just be a chatbot in your social feed anymore.
The company has launched Grok Build in beta, rolling out access to all SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers via build.grok.com.
Moving beyond the chat box
The new workspace brings several major tools into a single dashboard.
It features Plan Mode for breaking down and structuring complex tasks step-by-step. There is also Imagine, which handles image and video generation directly inside the environment.
For builders, the headline addition is a dedicated CLI. Developers can use the command-line interface to build automations and orchestrators, opening the door to custom multi-agent workflows.
Why it matters
We think this marks an important strategic pivot for xAI. Instead of keeping Grok as an X-bound assistant, the company is directly taking on OpenAI and Anthropic in developer tooling and agent orchestration.
For paying subscribers, it immediately boosts the utility of SuperGrok and X Premium+, turning a casual membership into a practical automation toolkit.
Packaging task planning, media generation, and CLI tooling together looks like a smart play to serve both creators and developers in one place. That said, it is still a beta, and whether it can handle messy, production-grade workflows reliably remains to be seen.
