xAI lets Grok build playable games and apps in chat
xAI just rolled out Build Mode in early beta for Grok, letting users turn chat prompts into interactive websites, apps, and even 3D games. The model writes the code and runs a live preview right inside the chat window with zero setup required, and projects can be published instantly to a grok.me link or custom domain. It is currently limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers.

Turning a random software idea into an actual clickable app usually means opening an IDE, debugging dependencies, and figuring out hosting. xAI is trying to wipe out that entire pipeline.
The company just rolled out Build Mode in early beta for Grok. It is currently available exclusively to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers across the web, iOS, and Android.
From a prompt to a live link in seconds
Build Mode allows users to build websites, functional apps, 3D games, and interactive dashboards entirely through conversation.
There is no setup, no local runtime, and no need to touch raw code unless you want to. Grok writes the code and renders a working, interactive preview directly inside the chat window. From there, you simply text Grok to tweak layouts, swap styling, or attach new capabilities.
xAI's demos range from business landing pages and interactive planners to a peaceful 3D driving game roaming an endless forest. Once finished, projects can be published instantly to a grok.me link or mapped to a custom domain.
Why it matters
For non-technical creators and solo operators, the distance between having an idea and having a shareable prototype has collapsed into a few chat bubbles. Being able to spin up and tweak functional tools straight from a phone is genuinely handy.
xAI is not the first to put code previews in a chat window, but wrapping creation, rendering, and one-click public hosting into a single seamless loop is very smart packaging. That said, keeping it locked behind the top-tier SuperGrok Heavy tier means it is strictly an early playground for now. We think chat-based micro-app generation is rapidly becoming table stakes across frontier models, and the next real battleground will be seeing how gracefully these builders handle complex project maintenance over dozens of turns.
