X puts Grok to work writing your ads

Published Reach 34

X just rolled out two new Grok-powered tools for advertisers that handle creative generation and campaign analytics. Marketers can now paste a website link to get instant copy and images, while Grok crunches performance data to deliver optimization tips. The features are rolling out in phases.

Creating ad campaigns has always been a painful bottleneck for small brands, often requiring hours of tweaking copy, chasing design assets, and guessing audience segments. Now, X is handing the entire workflow over to Grok.

X Business announced two new AI-driven tools for advertisers: Prefill with Grok and Analyze Campaign with Grok. The goal is simple, turning end-to-end campaign creation and optimization into a matter of a few clicks.

Both features are currently rolling out in phases to advertisers on the platform.

From a URL to a live ad in minutes

The first new tool, Prefill with Grok, takes aim at the creative bottleneck.

Advertisers only need to provide their website URL. Grok then scans the page and automatically generates ad copy, relevant imagery, and a call-to-action headline tailored to the brand.

Marketers still retain full control to edit text or swap out pictures before launching. According to X, this setup allows brands to take a campaign live in just minutes, bypassing the traditional drafting and design grind.

Automated debriefs and optimization

Launching an ad is one thing, but knowing why it failed or succeeded is usually where small businesses struggle the most.

Analyze Campaign with Grok acts as an automated campaign strategist. The tool processes raw performance metrics and translates them into actionable guidance.

X says Grok can identify audience trends, highlight missed opportunities, and suggest targeting or creative refinements to boost return on ad spend.

These tools tie into X's broader push to revive ad revenue, following a recent Shopify integration and an upcoming Quick Promote tool for fast post-boosting.

Why it matters

Lowering the barrier to entry for small businesses and creators is a smart move. If you run a lean startup or an e-commerce shop, generating baseline creative from a simple URL saves hours of work and makes running small test campaigns painless.

However, full automation carries obvious risks. URL scraping frequently misses subtle brand tone, and AI-generated imagery can easily slip into generic slop if marketers don't actively review the output.

Meta and Google have been embedding generative tools into their ad platforms for over a year. X needed to catch up. By embedding Grok directly into the ad engine, X is finally turning its flagship AI from an experimental chatbot into a revenue-generating utility.
