Researchers at Yale's Budget Lab and Brookings just analyzed 33 months of U.S. labor data since ChatGPT launched, finding no economy-wide evidence of mass layoffs or sudden job mix shifts. Exposure to LLMs remains high in knowledge sectors, but occupational transitions still mirror the slow adoption curve of the early internet. Basically, technology takes decades to upend work, and the panic over AI eating all jobs overnight was premature.
