Google DeepMind just open-sourced its WeatherNext models following a Nature paper demonstrating a major breakthrough in cyclone tracking and intensity forecasting. Its three-day forecast matches prior two-day benchmarks—roughly a decade of meteorological progress—and runs 15-day simulations in under a minute on a single TPU.
