MIT's generative AI designs brand-new superbug killers
MIT researchers just used generative AI algorithms to dream up over 36 million theoretical molecules, successfully discovering novel antibiotic candidates that kill drug-resistant gonorrhea and MRSA in mice. Rather than modifying existing drugs, these candidates feature completely unseen chemical structures that attack bacterial cell membranes.
