Pangram's new detector sniffs out AI images and videos with heatmaps

Pangram just launched its flagship Image 1.0 and Image Flash 1.0 detection models, built to spot synthetic images and videos from frontier generators. Image 1.0 outputs heatmaps that highlight exact manipulated spots, while Flash 1.0 runs frame-by-frame video analysis with 98.7% accuracy on the DF26 benchmark. Both models are available via API and a Chrome extension for real-time feed checking.

Platforms draw the line on synthetic media

Anthropic, Spotify, and Substack are rolling out new transparency tools to tackle the AI authenticity crisis. Anthropic is now watermarking Claude-generated text and C2PA files to comply with the EU AI Act, while Spotify is tagging non-human artists with badges and cutting them from recommendations. Why it matters: With nearly all listeners unable to spot AI music, platforms are racing to restore credibility.

Substack and Pangram team up to fight "Claudefishing"

Substack just partnered with AI-detection firm Pangram to tackle "Claudefishing"—readers unknowingly consuming AI content they assumed was written by humans. Users on web and iOS can now scan posts, notes, and replies over 100 words to estimate AI involvement. Creators can also run pre-publish draft checks and add a "How I make this" disclosure statement.
