NHTSA puts Tesla's Cybercab under the microscope
Tesla just launched its steering-wheel-free Cybercab in Austin, but regulators are already stepping in. The NHTSA opened an investigation to audit the technical data Tesla used to self-certify the vehicle's safety compliance. With 45 vehicles registered in Texas and a sub-$30,000 price target, noncompliance could lead to a recall and heavy fines.
