Tesla kills Model S and X to build Optimus robots
Elon Musk just announced that Tesla will discontinue the Model S and Model X in Q2 2026. The move aims to clear out factory floor space in Fremont specifically to mass-produce the Optimus humanoid robot. Musk is essentially abandoning Tesla's original luxury EV flagships to bet the entire company's future on AI and robotics.
