OpenAI taps Broadcom and TSMC for its first in-house chip
OpenAI is developing its first custom AI inference chip with Broadcom and TSMC, expected for production in 2026, while shelving costly plans to build its own foundries. To rein in soaring infrastructure costs, the company is also adding AMD chips alongside Nvidia GPUs to diversify its hardware stack.
