Anthropic just gave AI hands in the lab
Anthropic just opened a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), an open protocol enabling AI agents to safely operate lab hardware like liquid handlers, microscopes, and robotic arms. Built with HHMI Janelia, MHS shrinks hardware integration from weeks to hours through standard drivers and MCP. Anthropic plans to open-source the spec after physical safety evaluations wrap up.
