European lawmakers just passed the world's first major AI act
The European Parliament just approved the EU AI Act, establishing the world's first comprehensive rulebook for artificial intelligence with an overwhelming 523 votes in favor. The landmark legislation classifies AI systems by risk level and bans "unacceptable" hazards outright. It is set to take effect in May, with enforcement phased in starting in 2025.
