AI spots hidden heart disease from routine ECGs
Columbia University researchers just developed EchoNext, an AI tool that detects structural heart disease from cheap, standard electrocardiograms. Tested against cardiologists, the model hit 77% accuracy compared to the doctors' 64%. Basically, it can turn 400 million routine heart tests into a lifesaving screening pipeline before expensive ultrasounds are even ordered.
