Predicting black swan disasters with scarce data
Researchers just combined Bayesian reasoning with a deep neural operator called DeepONet to forecast rare "black swan" disasters. Instead of hunting through infinite haystacks of missing data, the system extracts maximum insight from scarce data points to estimate risks like rogue waves or pandemic surges. It turns messy, equation-heavy physical modeling into efficient predictive AI.
