Apple has reportedly suspended development of its camera-equipped AirPods Pro, according to leaker Kosutami. The hardware was designed to feed visual data into Siri and Apple Intelligence rather than shoot photos. Why it matters: The device was seen as a key step for Apple's ambient AI ambitions, making the sudden halt a notable twist in its wearable roadmap.
Apple just left clues in iOS 26 developer beta 6 showing a new gesture where pinching both AirPods stems at once triggers live translation. The asset links directly to the Translate app for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, aiming at face-to-face talks. While phone support details remain unconfirmed, it brings Apple closer to rivaling smart audio wearables.
Apple is reportedly developing next-gen AirPods equipped with tiny external cameras and AI to see the world around you. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the earbuds would essentially act like screenless smart glasses, pairing with Siri to offer real-time contextual awareness—likely targeting a 2027 debut on AirPods Pro 4.
