TikTok rolls out free AI ad script generator

Published Reach 57

TikTok just launched Script Generator, a free tool inside TikTok Creative Center that whips up video ad scripts in seconds. Marketers plug in product details and target duration to get scene-by-scene hooks and audio cues, though TikTok cautions that humans should still verify the copy before running campaigns.

Staring at a blank document trying to write TikTok hooks is a special kind of pain. TikTok wants to fix that.

TikTok just launched Script Generator, a free AI tool inside its Creative Center that writes full video ad scripts in seconds. Anyone with a desktop TikTok for Business account can now use it at no extra cost.

How it actually works

Using the tool is about as simple as it gets. You log into the desktop Creative Center, pick your industry vertical, and type in your product name, a brief description, and a few key terms you want included.

Next, you choose your format: 15-30 seconds or 31-60 seconds. Hit "Generate scripts," and within seconds, the system serves up multiple concepts to test.

In hands-on tests, the tool didn't just spit out generic copy. It mapped out full scripts broken down by scenes, complete with on-screen visual cues, voiceover lines, text overlays, and audio suggestions. It also packages in a deliberate hook and a clear call to action. If you hate what it produces, you can reroll the prompt as many times as you want for free.

The fine print and generic risks

Under the hood, TikTok noted that the tool relies on an unnamed third-party provider, routing prompt data through that external service. Given how tailored the formats are, it likely layers that tech on top of top-performing TikTok ad trends.

Google's Head of Creative Partnerships APAC, Anton Reyniers, gave it high marks, stating that TikTok is "streets ahead in their genuine understanding of creative's importance."

Yet TikTok itself is slapping a massive disclaimer on the screen. The company explicitly warned marketers not to blindly trust the outputs, stating it makes zero guarantees about accuracy or legal compliance. In short: if the AI hallucinates a false product claim, the liability falls entirely on your brand.

Why it matters

We think this is a smart, low-friction utility that removes creative paralysis for small businesses, but it comes with a built-in trap.

For solo creators, drop-shippers, or lean marketing teams, this is worth testing immediately. It won't write an award-winning campaign, but it instantly gives you an editing roadmap with visual cues and timing. If you're stuck on how to pace a 30-second spot, it solves the cold-start problem in seconds.

However, the real danger is commoditization. Because AI models train on what has already worked, leaning solely on these scripts will inevitably drown feeds in generic, formulaic ads that viewers quickly tune out.

Platforms like Meta and LinkedIn are already baking generative copy into their ad suites. TikTok's real play here is lowering the production bar so brands spend less time scripting and more money buying ad impressions. The tool gets you to the starting line faster, but human editing is still what will keep your audience from scrolling away.
